[ She knows she should really start heading back to her apartment, but it's taken her most of the day to just wander in a desperate bid to get acclimated to her surroundings again. It feels like it's been a lifetime since she's been here, but that isn't the case at all -- but at least she's able to jump into things with a little more understanding.
Idly, she's preparing to turn and start heading back, when she catches sight of someone rounding a corner in front of her with... blue tattoos?
Hastily, she jogs to catch up to him, both confused and a little pleased as she calls out: ]
[Tenzin was most likey told to get rest after his healing session; a lot of the visible injuries are dealt with, but Korra wasn't able to completely heal him. Instead, he was wandering around some more, trying to gain a better sense of his surroundings. If this place really is as dangerous as they say, it's best to get an idea of where everything is.
Then he's interrupted when he hears an oddly familiar voice call out to him... asking an oddly specific question.
He turns to face her as she approaches. This person who almost looks like Kya... but really looks like a splitting image of Mom when she was younger. His eyes widen in shock.]
Ma- [Midword, as fast as he can he frantically shifts his enunciation to try to sound like he's saying "my".] -yy yes, I do happen to be one. [He clears his throat and tugs at the corners of his robe. Tries to stand up straight and dignified.] Could you, perhaps, be a Waterbender? [Maybe it's just smalltalk. But he has little doubts as to who this is, after he's already seen younger versions of Mai and Ty Lee running around.]
[ The shock gives her momentary pause, but that completely makes sense: she'd been completely surprised when she'd run into someone from her world's future - that must be exactly what it felt like for this man, she decides, and smiles apologetically. ]
I guess the outfit gave me away, huh?
[ But there's a careful gentleness in her voice; she has no idea how long he's been here, or how much he's used to just yet. ]
I am. Katara, from the Southern Water Tribe... it's nice to meet you. Are you lost?
[ Her memories are a little fuzzy, but she should be able to manage perfunctory directions, at least. ]
[There's no doubting it anymore. That's his mother. Looking not much older than Jinora is in this place. He gives a sheepish nod at her question about the outfit. And there's an odd comfort in her gentle tone. He expected no less from his mother. Tenzin does his best to sound composed as he responds.]
It's a pleasure to meet you, Katara. My name is Tenzin. I'm not quite lost at the moment. I'm simply... er, exploring my surroundings. And soon, I intend to return to the housing spiral.
We can explore together, then? If that's alright with you. [ Katara flashes him another brief smile, injecting as much warmth into it as she can. ] I was here before, but I've been gone for a while. It's going to take some getting used to again, I think.
I'm perfectly fine, Korra. Is that really all that's bothering you? [Now he almost sounds amused. It doesn't seem like anything else is wrong, so he concern is just adorable.]
[ WELL OTHER THAN THE GENERAL FLOODING and Everything Being Awful in regards to that -- his tone catches her off guard, though, and that's evident in her own voice. ]
--um, yes! I was just - uh, I just thought that maybe you and I could meditate.
[ There is nothing about this that isn't painfully awkward. ]
Oh... Oh, I see! [It sounds like no one's dying at the moment. That's a relief. But Mom, meditating? He doesn't think it's been the most common sight in his life. Perhaps that's why it feels somewhat heartwarming that she's preparing to give it a try. ...It still sounds very awkward, though.]
Yes, of course we can meditate! If you'd like to meditate... than that's what we'll do!
[ They have precious little common ground - or so it feels that way right now, at least, and Katara had struggled when trying to think of a way to connect with him. Meditation was such an important thing to Aang, and Tenzin was an airbender -- surely it stood to reason...?
She mostly just sounds relieved when he accepts her offer. ]
We don't have to, I just - thought it would give us something to do.
[ Yeah. Bond with your future son by sitting there crosslegged in absolute silence. That'll do the trick. ]

Hello, Katara. [It's weird to call her that instead of Mom. But it's a small sacrifice in the long run.
But why is she calling? Did something happen? Oh god something must have happened, she must be in trouble!! He holds the phone closer to her.]

Last time...you said I defended the new air nation. But I was the reason you guys were targeted in the first place, wasn't I?
audio;
Korra? I... It's not that simple. ...Where did you hear this?
audio;
I think Bolin's from way in the future, like Jinora is.
audio;
Korra, what happened was not your fault. It was Zaheer's, and Zaheer's alone.
