I wish that there were an easy answer to that... but I'm afraid that there will always be those who seek out excuses to harm innocents.
But at the very least, why not look at the bright side as well? You inspire us and help us to better ourselves. To take care ourselves. Why, at the end of that confrontation, Jinora was able to conduct the other airbenders in ensnaring Zaheer so that you could deveat him. You don't have to carry that burden on your shoulders alone, Korra. We're shaping up tp be quite capable of sharing it.
[Korra swallows, feeling her eyes sting a little. You inspire us, Tenzin had said.]
She did? No wonder you decided to give her the tattoos later on. [Even if Tenzin doesn't remember the ceremony right now.]
I feel a lot better knowing I have people like you and Jinora by my side. And my friends, too. It's like they said back home... even Aang had help from his friends.
Yes. The more I look back at that moment, the more certain I feel about that move having been what helped me know that she was ready.
I'm honored to have been able to stand by your side. Thank you, Korra. You're right. Being an Avatar may be one person's job, but I don't think that an Avatar could truly be successful without community and teamwork to draw from. You've met some amazing friends, Korra, and I'm proud of that. Especially considering that the conditions we initially decided on for raising you... well, it wasn't exactly conducive for forming friendships. [He still feels a but guilty, even if he also feels it was necessary to protect her from threats like the Red Lotus.]
[It's strange, how the compound and the White Lotus seems to be coming up in conversations more now. Though Korra doesn't regret leaving the compound the way that she did, she does understand now that they were only trying to protect her. No matter how frustrating that might have been growing up.]
You guys were just doing your best. Zaheer and his friends are...powerful. I know I didn't take them seriously enough now that I've heard what they do in the future.
[Her voice softens:] I'm really glad you were the one who took me in when I left the compound.
Tenzin, it's okay. [It sounds like she's holding back a small laugh.] All of that's in the past now. There's no point thinking about it when we can't change what happened.
[Talking to Wan about the compound and all that has at least given her some peace about it. Enough that she can say all this and mean it.]
And of course you have. I've never had siblings before, but...it's nice having Jinora, Ikki, and Meelo around.
It does help to hear you say that, Korra. Thank you. I'm glad and honored that you've gotten along with my children so well. I couldn't ask for a better older sister figure for them.

And... I'm glad as well, to have looked after you for so long. Thank you, Korra. I hope that we provided a pleasant home away from home for you.

When I first started living with all of you, I had no idea it'd... turn out the way it did. I couldn't ask for better siblings.
[She sighs.] And I'm really glad Meelo and Ikki aren't here. [The thought alone is horrifying.]
